Speed Run Mode: How to Get the Highest Score in 2 Minutes ⚡
PinFindr's Speed Run mode is pure adrenaline. You have 120 seconds to guess as many locations as possible. Every second counts. Here's how to maximize your score.
Understanding the Scoring
In Speed Run mode:
- Each correct region gives you points based on accuracy
- More guesses = more total points (even if individual scores are lower)
- The clock never stops — it keeps ticking between rounds
- A decent guess is always better than no guess
The Math
If you take 20 seconds per guess and score ~2,000 points each: 6 guesses × 2,000 = 12,000 points
If you take 10 seconds per guess and score ~1,500 points each: 12 guesses × 1,500 = 18,000 points
Speed wins. Fast approximate guesses beat slow perfect ones.
The 10-Second Method
Train yourself to make a decision within 10 seconds:
Seconds 1-3: Instant Scan
- What language is on signs?
- What side are cars driving on?
- What's the general landscape?
Seconds 4-6: Region Lock
- Narrow to a continent
- Identify likely country
Seconds 7-8: Place Your Pin
- Click the map on your best guess
- Don't zoom in too much on the answer map
Seconds 9-10: Confirm and Submit
- Quick sanity check
- Hit "Guess" immediately

Map Navigation Speed Tips
Pre-Set Your Default View
Before starting, mentally divide the world map into zones. Know approximately where to click for:
- Europe → Upper-center of map
- Southeast Asia → Far right, below center
- South America → Left side, below center
- Africa → Center, slightly left
Don't Over-Zoom
A common time-waster is zooming in too much on the answer map. For Speed Run:
- Click the approximate region
- Zoom in just enough to place in the right country
- Submit immediately
Use Map Muscle Memory
After enough games, your hand will automatically move to the right area. This is the #1 skill that separates fast players from slow ones.
Advanced Speed Techniques
The Elimination Method
Can't figure out where it is? Eliminate what it's NOT:
- Not snowy → Not Scandinavia/Russia/Canada
- Not desert → Not Middle East/Sahara
- Not Asian script → Not East Asia
- Left-hand traffic → Eliminate 70% of countries
The Default Guess Strategy
When completely lost, have default guesses ready:
- Looks vaguely European but no idea where? → Central Poland (center of Europe)
- Looks tropical? → Indonesia (huge country, good coverage)
- Looks flat and agricultural? → Ukraine (large area to be "close enough")
- Looks like it could be anywhere? → Turkey (crossroads of continents)
Training Regimen
Week 1: Speed Building

- Focus ONLY on speed, not accuracy
- Target: 8+ guesses per 2-minute round
Week 2: Accuracy Integration
- Maintain speed but start noting clues
- Review which regions you consistently miss
- Target: 8+ guesses with 2,000+ average points
Week 3: Optimization
- Practice the 10-second method religiously
- Work on map navigation speed
- Target: 10+ guesses per round
Week 4+: Mastery
- Challenge other fast players
- Aim for 12+ guesses per round
- Study weak regions separately
Common Speed Run Mistakes
- Spending 30+ seconds on one photo → Force yourself to guess and move on
- Zooming too much → Keep the map at a medium zoom
- Hesitating between two countries → Pick either one, both give similar points
- Not clicking "Guess" → Some players forget to actually submit
- Panicking at the timer → Stay calm, rhythm beats panic
